It’s that season again where everybody gets hooked up. It happened in high school, it happened in pre-university and now it’s happening in university. While the people may change, there is one thing that remains constant; Drama.
When two people get together, 5 things are discussed almost immediately, seperately among girls, seperately among men, and finally together among both species, however, never between who it concerns.
1) I saw it coming
– Everyone claims to have seen it coming, and how they knew it for months, and it was just inevitable. Everyone is an expert in such matters.
2) Are they perfect for each other?
– Usually this question receives biased answers. If they like either the man or the woman the answer is yes, and vice versa.
3) How long will it last?
– Answers span from a month, a year and all the way to forever
4) What happens to us?
– Many a times, many a people feel that their friends who have hooked up will no longer have the time to accomodate their own schedule. Naturally they will be seeing less of each other, and this makes devious schemes poping up left and right.
5) Bashing / Adoration
– Insults are hurled when the new couple does anything regardless of being right or wrong if despised, and cute hoo-ha’s are made when the couple does something as remarkably simple as hugging, if loved.
My personal take on the issue:
As our great Mencia puts it, Dee Dee Dee.
My sister once told me, and I slightly paraphrase
“HypoG, listen, in uni, you’ll see people coupling up left and right, for the most pathetic or stupid reason, but know one thing, infatuation lasts only as long as the menstrual cycle”
She further elaborated that there are a few kind of couples. The kind that tends to last, would be those that couple up before coming to uni.. though there are exceptions to these.
The rest, there’s always a span ranging from a month to the most being a year, and then the vicious cycle takes place again.
However, as I’ve come to see, there are, some, which lasts. Damn black sheeps ruining statistics…No but seriously, there are a few people who do not couple up for the sake of doing it, apparently, they’re in love [Love is something this author refuses to acknowledge].
It’s interesting to see how things work, from an observer’s point of view, and I’ll take notes.
Here’s a toast to all me mates who are hooking up…
*Cheers*
And here’s a toast to all us single mates…
Get laid, losers.
